A Local Production Of Dark Comedy Mr. Burns

The Illinois State University School Of Theatre And Dance is proud to present the outrageously funny Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play, at their Westhoff Theater this Winter. Written by Anne Washburn, the black comedy was a critical triumph and achieved cult status when it debuted Off-Broadway in 2013.

An ensemble cast of young performers will tackle the highly imaginative work, which is based on the Simpson's episode Cape Feare. The first act opens after an unnamed apocalyptic event has taken place, focusing on a group of survivors that come together in the face of human tragedy to try to piece together their own dramatic interpretation of the episode. The second act takes place seven years later, finding the group turned theatrical troupe specialising in performing Simpsons episodes, including commercial breaks...
